Ronald Balimwezo Appoints Faridah Nakabugo Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor

New Ronald Balimwezo Kampala City Lord Mayor has appointed Lubaga II councillor Faridah Nakabugo as Deputy Lord Mayor in a new executive team dominated by women leaders.

Nakabugo, who was elected on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, was also appointed Secretary for Administration and Human Resources, placing her at the centre of the city’s internal management and staffing operations.
Speaking at City Hall on Monday, Balimwezo unveiled a four-member executive committee, with three women taking up key positions in Kampala’s top administrative structure.

Kawempe II councillor Shamim Nambasa was appointed Secretary for Finance and will oversee budgeting, revenue planning and the capital’s fiscal management.

Meanwhile, Makindye III councillor Judith Nalukwago was named Secretary for Social Services, with responsibility for health, education and community welfare programmes across the city.

Nakawa II councillor Godfrey Luyombya was appointed Secretary for Civil Works and Physical Planning, a docket that oversees infrastructure development, urban planning and city works.
The newly appointed executive committee is expected to play a central role in shaping the administration’s agenda on service delivery, governance and urban development in Kampala.

Balimwezo urged the committee members to prioritise unity, accountability and inclusive leadership while serving residents of the capital.
“We must serve all people of Kampala regardless of their political affiliation. Leadership is about improving lives and delivering services to the citizens,” he said.

The appointments come at a time when Kampala continues to grapple with mounting challenges related to infrastructure, service delivery and urban management, issues the new executive committee is expected to address during its term in office.
