Évian-les-Bains, France – Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) nations have gathered in the French resort town of Évian-les-Bains for a summit focused on some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, global economic stability, and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.

Several guest nations, including India, Brazil, Kenya, and South Korea, have also been invited to participate in discussions.

A key focus of the summit is continued support for Ukraine as it confronts the ongoing war with Russia. G7 leaders issued a joint statement reaffirming their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while pledging to increase pressure on Russia through additional economic measures.

The leaders are also discussing the situation in the Middle East, global energy security, international trade, debt challenges facing developing nations, and strategies for ensuring that artificial intelligence is developed responsibly and safely.

The choice of Évian as the summit venue carries historical significance. The French lakeside town previously hosted the G8 Summit in 2003, where world leaders focused on economic growth, international cooperation, security, and development issues.

Observers say the 2026 summit comes at a critical moment as world leaders seek coordinated responses to geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and emerging technological challenges that continue to reshape the global landscape.

The summit is expected to conclude with a series of joint commitments aimed at strengthening international cooperation and promoting global stability.
