Kampala, Uganda – State House Senior Presidential Aide Col. Edith Nakalema on Tuesday evening launched her latest book, My Father and I: The Power of Intentional Fatherhood, during a colorful ceremony held at Protea Hotel Kampala.
The publication features a foreword by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and explores the vital role of intentional fatherhood in building strong families and a responsible society.

The launch attracted an impressive gathering of distinguished guests, reflecting Col. Nakalema’s influence and years of dedicated public service. The event was graced by Jessica Alupo, alongside senior military generals, cabinet ministers, heads of government agencies, diplomats, religious leaders, members of the business community, civil society representatives, and other invited guests.
Making her remarks, Vice President Jessica Alupo recalled her long-standing friendship with Col. Edith Nakalema, reflecting on the rigorous military and intelligence training they underwent together at Kasenyi, where they endured challenging conditions, including spending nights in a cold shipping container.
Alupo also shared a personal testimony of gratitude, recounting how Col. Nakalema played a pivotal role in safeguarding her election victory.
“I thank my sister for intervening when my election victory was almost stolen. Late in the night, I confroted the returning officer and asked why he had not declared the results despite the fact that we already had records. He simply responded, ‘I don’t have them.’ I then called the President, who told me, ‘Col. Edith is going to call you in five minutes.’ True to his word, she called and assured me, ‘If they don’t announce the results within five minutes, call me back.’ Before the five minutes elapsed, the results were announced,” Alupo narrated.
In her remarks, Col. Edith Nakalema expressed profound gratitude to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, describing him as a second father whose guidance and mentorship have profoundly shaped her life and career. She also paid tribute to Janet Kataaha Museveni, whom she described as a second mother for her unwavering encouragement, care, and support over the years.
Col. Nakalema further appreciated Lisa Chesney for attending the book launch. She reflected on the period she pursued studies in the United Kingdom, noting that the High Commissioner’s presence symbolized the enduring friendship and cooperation between Uganda and the United Kingdom.
The launch also received overwhelming support from faith leaders and guests. Robert Kayanja purchased 100 copies of the book, while Jackson Ssenyonga also bought multiple copies, joining many other guests in supporting Col. Nakalema’s message on intentional fatherhood and strong family values.P
