KAMPALA, Uganda – Briton Tigah Kiwanuka former challenger of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni within National Residence Movement- NRM for Party chairman has been appointed Liaison Officer in the Office of the President, a significant promotion from his previous position as Research Assistant in the same office.

The appointment marks another milestone in Kiwanuka’s public service career, following years of dedicated service and his recent participation in Uganda’s 2026 East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) elections, where he offered himself for national leadership.

Although he was unsuccessful in securing the EALA seat, he remained committed to serving the country through government service.
Speaking after his appointment, Kiwanuka expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to strengthen liaison and coordination efforts in support of government programmes.

He said he would actively follow up on, monitor, and facilitate the implementation of government initiatives to ensure they are effectively executed and deliver meaningful benefits to communities across Uganda.
He also committed to mobilising citizens to support and actively participate in government programmes, noting that sustainable national development depends on strong collaboration between government institutions and the public.
According to Kiwanuka, improved communication, coordination, and public engagement are essential for enhancing service delivery and promoting inclusive socio-economic development.
Reaffirming his dedication to public service, Kiwanuka pledged to serve with integrity, professionalism, and commitment, adding that he will work diligently to advance government programmes and contribute to Uganda’s continued growth and transformation.
