Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has today Monday (07th Dec 2020) returned from Kenyan capital Nairobi where he has been at Aghakan Hospital being treated for more than a week.
Lukwago has described what he calls a “horrifying experience it has been but I’m glad that finally I’m out of the woods and now back on my feet. Glory be to the Lord for His grace, blessings and gift of life.”
A great deal of gratitude he has poured to the various teams of physicians, pulmonologists and health workers, particularly; Professor Godfrey Lule, Dr. Muhindi Wanjugu and colleagues at Nairobi Hospital, Dr. Hassan Ali Salim and the entire team at Agakhan Hospital Nairobi, Prof. William Worodria, Dr. Hassan Ssozi and colleagues at Mulago, Dr. Ssekitoleko, Dr. Mutakirwa, Dr. Mathias Ssenyondo and the entire team at Lubaga Hospital where he had received treatment prior.
“To my dear friends, colleagues in different formations, agencies, entities and individual sympathisers, I’m profoundly touched by your love, concern and care. May the good Lord reward you abundantly.” Lukwago said.
Upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Lukwago was welcomed my scores of his supporters. At his home in Lubaga, Kampala Duwa prayers were conducted to thank ”Allah” for his life.

Lukwago used this platform to demand for better health facilities for Ugandans such that money is not spent abroad in search for better treatment.
The mayor’s office also released a statement; ”Thank you the people of Kampala and Uganda at large for standing with the Lord Mayor His Worship Erias Lukwago as he battles a serious respiratory ailment. Let us keep him in prayer for total recuperation. We greatly appreciate you sympathies and support and to those who participated in the Duwa led by Sheikh Kasaliko at his residence this afternoon, barakallahu feekum.”
Lukwago for a while will not actively campaign for mayoral race 2021 on advice of doctors who have asked him take ample rest.
