On Thursday (18th February 21) UN Resident coordinator Rosa Malango alongside UNDP Resident Representative Elsie Attafuah and FAO country representative Dr Antonio Querido led members of Youth Coalition for SDGs at Kawumu State Lodge which hosts Presidential Demonstration Farm Project. Others included Mr. Deus Tirwakinda UNCDF START facility Manager (UN Capital Development Fund) , Mr. Victor Ochen, UN Global Ambassador for Peace, Executive Director AYINET (African Youth Initiative Network), Mr. Apollo Segawa, Executive Director, CURA (Consortium for Enhancing Universities Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development) Mr. Samuel Otim Rizzo, Chief of Party Avsi Mr. Martin Akampurira, Director for Youth, JB International and other members of the Youth Coalition.
This was in fulfillment of one of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s promise to the very youth he met at State House Entebbe last week for empowerment in several areas including human capital development by learning from him.

Speaking to HICGI News Agency, the Farm Manager Mr. Gandugga M Geoffrey said it was important the youth learn from the president what it means making wealth by engaging in meaningful agriculture. He added that when the president first demonstrated irrigating with bottles, he was criticized around the world. “I will tell you, this is the plantation he watered.” showing the youth. Gandugga latter answered several questions from the youth during a discussion interval.
Sara Birungi Namuddu from Smart Transition says she is excited to learn more and called upon her peers not to look at farming as an activity of the old people rather one of the ways to create wealth.
In a news briefing by UN Bosses at the farm youth , youth were propelled to start farming. “In agriculture sector there’s money to be made provided the youth take farming as a business.” said Dr Antonio Querido
Rosama Malango disclosed that in 2018, they began dialogue with government on SDGs discussed and implemented in the country.
In an exclusive Interview with HICGI News Agency, UNDP Boss said youth should come as a group not individuals in case they want to benefit from the financial support they have.
