Murder suspect remanded over death of TikToker

Kampala — September 7, 2026: A woman accused of murdering TikToker Jovia Namuwulya has been remanded to Luzira Prison by the City Hall Magistrates Court.

Patricia Rose Turindwamukama appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu on Monday and was charged with murder and robbery.

Prosecution alleges that Turindwamukama, together with another person who is still at large, killed Namuwulya, 22, on August 20 in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division.

Turindwamukama is also accused of stealing Namuwulya’s iPhone 12 Pro Max, valued at Shs2 million, a cream-white bag worth Shs150,000, three pieces of clothing valued at Shs200,000 and her passport.

The prosecution alleges that a knife was used in the commission of the offences.

Turindwamukama did not enter a plea to the murder charge because murder is an offence punishable by death and falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Magistrate Aisu remanded her to Luzira Prison until September 22, when she will return to court for mention.

According to the prosecution, Namuwulya, a waitress and TikTok content creator who used the name Jovia1235, was found dead in her rented room in Mukalazi Zone.

The court heard that relatives became concerned after she failed to respond to repeated telephone calls. The caretaker reportedly went to check on her and noticed bloodstains through a window.

Police were subsequently called and allegedly found Namuwulya lying in a pool of blood.

Prosecution told court that Namuwulya had shared the room with Turindwamukama for about seven months.

Investigators later traced Turindwamukama to Mbuya, where she was allegedly staying with her boyfriend. The boyfriend reportedly alerted police, leading to her arrest.

The prosecution further alleges that Turindwamukama was preparing to travel to Iraq and had applied for an Iraqi visa on August 21, a day after Namuwulya’s death.

The case was adjourned to September 22 for mention.

Turindwamukama remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
