A surge in artificial intelligence investments, major startup funding rounds and inherited wealth has helped drive a record number of young billionaires onto this year’s global rich list.

According to the latest billionaire rankings, 35 individuals under the age of 30 have amassed fortunes worth at least $1 billion, the highest number ever recorded. While they account for just 1% of the world’s 3,428 billionaires, their share has increased from 0.6% a year ago.

The new generation of young billionaires has built or inherited wealth across a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, construction supplies, financial technology, prediction markets and artificial intelligence.

The rapid expansion of AI-related businesses has played a particularly significant role, with soaring company valuations and investor enthusiasm creating new fortunes at an unprecedented pace.

Although inherited wealth continues to account for most of the fortunes held by billionaires under 30, entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly prominent among the world’s youngest ultra-wealthy individuals.

A record 12 of the 35 young billionaires are self-made, reflecting the growing influence of technology startups and digital innovation in wealth creation.

The trend highlights how emerging industries, particularly artificial intelligence, are reshaping global wealth patterns and creating opportunities for younger entrepreneurs to reach billionaire status far earlier than previous generations.
